Welland Park Academy – Dining Hall Refurbishment
A school dining hall has to cope with one of the busiest parts of the day.
At Welland Park Academy, the aim was to move beyond a purely functional canteen and create a brighter, more energetic space that students would enjoy using, while still standing up to the demands of a busy school environment.
Polycopy helped shape the look and feel of the room through design ideas, mood boards and layout planning, giving the school a clearer picture of how the space could work before the refurbishment moved forward.
The layout was designed to keep the room feeling open and accessible, even during busy lunch periods, while making better use of the available floor space. Robust furniture was then selected and installed to cope with regular high-volume use without losing the more modern feel the school wanted.
Colour, finishes and contemporary design elements were used to give the dining hall more character, creating a space that feels noticeably different from a standard institutional canteen.
The completed dining hall now provides a more welcoming environment where students can eat, meet and socialise, while still delivering the durability and practicality required for everyday school use.
Dining spaces can have a significant impact on how students experience the school day, particularly when they are designed to work well at peak times rather than simply maximise the number of seats.
Polycopy works with schools across Leicester, Leicestershire and the Midlands on education refurbishment, classroom furniture and complete learning space fit-out projects. From initial ideas and space planning through to furniture selection, flooring, decoration, delivery and installation, we can help create practical, flexible environments that work better for both students and staff.
Our experience covers a wide range of education spaces, including classrooms, sixth form areas, SEN hubs, dining spaces, staff rooms and breakout areas. Whether the project involves refreshing an existing room or delivering a more complete school refurbishment, we can help bring the different elements together through one coordinated service.
