Still using blackboards?
Posted: 30 May 2019
We are aware there are still plenty of blackboards in use. Although whiteboards and interactive whiteboards have mostly taken over in schools and academies, there's plenty of people teaching in Universities and working in the hospitality industry who continue to use chalk on a blackboard out of choice.
If you're one of those people, it's great to see some traditions being kept alive. To help you out here's some simple tips on maintaining your blackboard and keeping it clean....
In order to prevent ghosting, it is best to “chalk in” your chalkboard before first use, and also every now and then.
Simply apply white chalk over the entire surface by holding the chalk flat sideways and chalking all over.
After chalking in, wipe your board with a clean, soft and damp cloth. When using the board, use a felt chalk wipe to erase chalk annotations and clean the board regularly with a damp cloth.
If you require a new chalk board, with either a black or green background, we can supply! Contact us on 01509 610077 or sales@polycopy.co.uk and one of our team will be glad to help you.
We'll be back tomorrow with cleaning and maintenance advice for whiteboard users!
