John Taylor High School – Study Library
A sixth-form study space needs to feel different from an ordinary classroom.
For John Taylor High School, the aim was to create a modern environment where students could work independently, collaborate with others and make better use of their non-timetabled study periods.
Polycopy developed a new layout for the room before supplying and installing the furniture, helping the school visualise how the finished space would work before the project moved into installation.
The design combined dedicated study areas with more relaxed seating, giving students a choice of working environments rather than relying on one traditional classroom-style layout.
Careful furniture placement helped make effective use of the available floor space while maintaining clear routes through the room and creating distinct areas for individual and collaborative study.
The furniture specification also gave the space a more mature, contemporary appearance appropriate for sixth-form students, helping distinguish it from the rest of the school environment.
The completed study library provides John Taylor High School with a flexible space that supports focused work, group study and everyday sixth-form life.
