Light Hall School – Staff Room Refurbishment
A staff room should feel like somewhere you can actually switch off for a few minutes.
At Light Hall School, the existing space needed a refresh that would make it more comfortable, more inviting and more useful throughout the school day.
The brief was to create a professional but relaxed environment where teachers and support staff could take a break, catch up with colleagues or sit down with a laptop away from the classroom.
Polycopy helped develop the look and feel of the room, providing inspiration and mood boards before working through the practical layout.
The finished design balances soft seating with more functional furniture, giving staff a choice of spaces depending on how they want to use the room. Updated finishes and a more considered layout also helped make the area feel brighter, calmer and more purposeful.
Rather than treating the staff room as simply another functional school space, the refurbishment created somewhere staff could use for informal meetings, quiet work, lunch breaks and everyday conversation.
The result is a modern, flexible staff area that feels noticeably different from the classrooms around it and gives staff a dedicated place to step away from the pace of the school day.
