Wrenn School – Design & Technology Classroom
A Design & Technology classroom has to work harder than most teaching spaces.
Students need room to move, work safely, use tools and equipment, and collaborate on practical projects without the classroom becoming cramped or difficult to supervise.
That was the starting point for Wrenn School’s new DT classroom.
The available space was carefully planned to create clear circulation routes around the room while still providing enough working space for practical lessons. Heavy-duty solid beech workbenches were selected to give students robust, long-lasting surfaces suited to the demands of everyday Design & Technology teaching.
The layout was designed around how the room would actually be used, balancing individual working areas with the need for teachers to move easily between students and maintain clear sightlines across the classroom.
By keeping the furniture specification simple and durable, the finished room avoids unnecessary clutter and gives students a practical environment in which they can concentrate on making, testing and developing their work.
The result is a purpose-built DT classroom that makes better use of the available space while providing the durability, accessibility and flexibility needed for regular hands-on learning.
