Weavers Academy – Sixth Form Hub Refurbishment

Case Study Overview | Polycopy    Overview

Weavers Academy wanted to create a modern sixth form environment that could compete with the best facilities available to students across Wellingborough.

The aim was to develop a space that felt more mature and contemporary than the main school environment, while still being practical enough to cope with the demands of everyday sixth form life.

The project focused on creating an attractive, comfortable and durable hub that students would want to spend time in, supporting both independent study and social interaction.

Case Study Solution | Polycopy    The Solution

The design developed the students’ initial ideas into a practical and coordinated sixth form environment.

Furniture, finishes and colourways were carefully selected to create a consistent look throughout the space. Teal accents were incorporated across different elements of the scheme, helping visually connect the furniture and interior finishes.

Particular attention was given to the choice of fabrics for the soft seating. Working closely with the academy’s facilities team, a range of options was considered to find the right balance between appearance, colour, durability and ease of maintenance.

The selected materials needed to look good while also being able to withstand the everyday wear, spills and heavy use associated with a busy sixth form environment.

The result is a space that combines contemporary design with the practical considerations required for long-term use within an education setting.

Case Study Vision | Polycopy    The Vision

The vision was to create a sixth form hub that students could feel a genuine sense of ownership over.

Student input formed an important part of the early design process, with their ideas providing a valuable starting point for the scheme. These concepts were then developed and refined to ensure the finished space met the school’s practical requirements while achieving a cohesive, modern appearance.

A contemporary colour palette was introduced, with teal used as an anchor colour across feature walls, metal framework and selected soft seating. This helped give the sixth form its own distinctive identity while maintaining a professional and mature feel.

Case Study Outcome | Polycopy    The Outcome

The completed sixth form hub provides Weavers Academy with a modern, distinctive environment that enhances the experience offered to its older students.

By combining student ideas with practical design expertise, durable materials and a coordinated contemporary colour scheme, the finished space feels both welcoming and appropriately mature.

The new hub is more than simply an improved student area. It has become an asset to the academy, helping strengthen its sixth form offering while supporting the school in both retaining existing students and attracting future sixth form applicants.
